Heat Wave!
Amazingly enough, we had 92 degree temps last week here in SF and it was hot! It's typically cool year round so no one has air condition in their homes. We have maybe 5 total days a year that are over 80 so why bother with indoor air condition? We always say the fog is natures air condition for the Bay Area.
Anyway, it was HOT! and there weren't many things we could do to get relief from the heat. It was hot outside and hot/stuffy air inside. So I thought the kids would enjoy running through the sprinklers and getting wet to cool off...not so much. I put swim diapers on, flipped the switch and they just stood there. Hum...I tried to run out the show them how much fun it was but both refused. Cameron ventured out a little and got water in her face and it was all over for her. Timo took a few steps out, got wet and ran back. Who's kids are these???
I decided to try a different approach. Maybe just playing in still water would be fun...just something they could splash around in. We started off with watering cans and they seemed completely satisfied filling, pouring, splashing, filling, dumping, splashing, etc...
Though the kids seemed happy with the can, I was getting a little bored, so I pulled the dump trucks out and things really got fun. I was trying to make something like a water table...on wheels. For some odd reason, they were trying to stand in the trucks (bad idea)and splash the water on their legs and arms. Crazy kids!
Timo then had the bright idea to dump his bubbles in the dump truck and try to blow bubbles. It just wasn't working out that well for him until I came over with the water hose and created bubbles upon bubbles...
But all things must come to an end...it was time to head inside. I told the kids were were going inside to take off our swim diapers, turned my back to pick up some of their toys and turned around again to find them heading up the steps like this...what a "perfect little end" (sorry, couldn't resist) to a perfect afternoon!

Sunday Afternoon
We finally got some sunny warm weather on Sunday so we headed outside to soak up some vitamin D! We thought it would be fun to take the kids to the beach and fly the kite...best made plans...we forgot the middle bar on the kite! Oh well, the kids didn't really care, as long as there are rocks and water, they are happy.
Timo and Daddy ran on ahead while Cameron meandered around the walk-over bridge looking at ducks...she tends to just wander around while Timo has a purpose and wants to get to it!
Let the rock throwing begin! Timo scoured around the find the biggest rocks he could find.
Some how throwing rocks turned to throwing dirt...
I wish I had brought a blanket to sit on...we stayed at one tide pool for over an hour while the kids played...we had no place to sit...
After all the rock and dirt throwing, the kids were quite impressed with their messy hands...for about a minute...then they started to get really upset at the "mess". Since I didn't bring the wipes with me, Daddy taught them how to use grass as a napkin!
One last look at the ocean and it was time to go. The kids didn't really want to go but it was way past time for dinner and I didn't want to push it too much longer. Again, Daddy saved the day by making a game out of walking to the car. He had the kids hold on to the kite tale to make a train! He managed to avoid a total melt down and is a super hero in my eyes!!
After about a dozen bread sticks, our salads finally came...Timo was so adventurous eating salad and the anchovies!
Finally Pizza time and the kids gobbled it right up! What a great ending to a great day!

We had a coupon for a local pizza place so we took the kids out for dinner. Service was REALLY slow and the kids were getting very restless...we had to come up with all sorts of ideas to entertain them. Luckily it was loud in there so we could be as loud as we wanted. Here is Cameron singing Do-Re-Me from Sound of Music...her new fav movie. She really wanted to see herself singing on the camera so it was hard to get through the whole song...

6 Happy Years!
Young and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary this past weekend and had a lovely day as a family and with friends. We spent the morning at the farmer's market tasting fruit, eating breakfast and checking out all there is to see at the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero.
We started out at my favorite bakery at the market, The Downtown Bakery, with a doughnut muffin...I only got one bite! Then we enjoyed a fried egg sandwich of which the kids ate all the bacon out of...I'm beginning to think our anniversary isn't really about just the two of us anymore...
Daddy and Cameron made their way through all the booths, snacking on fruit samples...how much more can they eat?
We took a stroll on the water's edge...so much to see...
Later in the afternoon we had some good friends come by for a visit and dinner. It was so great to see Tang family. They live a little ways out of SF and came up for the weekend for a little getaway. Their daughter, Karissa, is the exact same age as the twins and their son, Skyden, is 4 years old.
Timo was so happy to have an older little boy to play with...
Cameron and Karissa were hard at work creating works of art!
With all of our travels this summer, it was nice to have a relaxing day together, enjoying the twins and our friends. It just reminds me of how much our lives have changed since we said our "I do's" six years ago!

Asthma Strikes Again!
We had a sick little boy most of last week. He caught a little summer cold, innocent enough, and was stuffy and snotty for a few days. But then one morning he woke up and it had moved to his chest...reeking havoc on his little lungs again. This is how he was most of the time, just lying on the sofa with his monkey...I knew something was wrong. We ended up at ER once more with breathing issues. I had flash backs of our last ER trip all over again as they used the nebulizer on him to help open his lungs up. His blood oxygen was at a good level so we were sent home with a rescue inhaler and a new prescription for his asthma medicine. Of course Young was out of town during all this, so I put Timo in bed with me that night so I could better hear him breathing...and I'm so glad I did! He woke about every 2 hours coughing and having trouble breathing...thank goodness for the rescue inhaler. It took about 48 hours for to get him breathing comfortable again but was soon back to his active self again. He still had a lingering cough for a few days and would ask for his "puffs" each time he coughed...guess he put two and two together...puffs makes my cough all better!
So we're back on our asthma medication...bummer. His pediatrician took him off his inhaler when he turned two because he was doing so well, I thought he had outgrown it. But here we are again...puffing away twice a day. At least now Timo likes to "help" press the inhaler and will help us count to 5 while we inhales it!
Cameron was very happy to have her brother up and at 'em again. It almost seemed like she didn't know what to do with herself while he was down. She kept bringing him a toy or stuffed animal and reminding me that "brother is sick"..."brother needs kisses." And she was so good in the ER room while Timo was getting all the attention. We ran out of the house so fast that I didn't have time to pack any activities or snacks for her but she just sat there quietly and watched. I honestly believe that when one is sick, the other knows something is wrong and has a spirit of nurturing and calmness about them. Amazing how the Lord crafted the bond of brothers and sisters!

forgoten pictures
I found some pictures on my phone of our trip to Florida that I forgotten about...
We ate at Cracker Barrel a few times and the kids just loved the checker set and rocking chairs out front. We would finish dinner and spend another 30-45min outside on the front porch!
And I certainly didn't want forget our trip to Pump It Up where Cameron went down the big slides with Grandpa while Timo shot some hoops with his Uncle Chaz!
And last but not least, Granny gave the kids haircuts. I was outside for Timo's cut but caught Cameron's. She stood so still for Granny to cut her hair! She is still talking about Granny cutting her hair "all gone".

Marin Farmer's Market
I've decided to start taking the kids to the farmers market at least once a week, if not twice. If we really wanted to, we could visit a different farmer's market each day of the week here in the Bay Area...but let's just start with one right now. I love the markets...it reminds me of my old pastry chef days when i would get there before the markets open and try to buy up all the peaches for jam, berries for the weekend wedding cakes or corn for a corn ice cream on the dessert menu. I get so inspired by the market...
But I digress...I thought it would be fun to start taking the kids so they can learn all the different foods out there as well as help in the baking process once we get home. We decided to escape the fog of SF and head to the Marin market last week and had so much fun. It's been a while since I've been to this market (like 2 1/2years)and boy has it changed. It seems to be geared for moms and kids now. In addition to tasting all kinds of fruit, cheeses, crackers, bread, and ice cream, the kids also hit the bouncy house, saw a puppet show and enjoyed lunch at the playground. What a morning!!
Timo had the bad habit of reaching up and just eating the fruit off the tables...that's how we ended up with these grapes, he just picked them up and brought them to me. And I felt bad that he ate about 10 raspberries out of this basket...we we got them too.
The puppet show and bouncy house. There was also balloon man and face painting for a small fee...oh and pony rides! You could easily spend serious $$ at the market just on entertainment!
Once our bellies were full, we headed to the park across the lawn to get some exercise.
It felt so great just to be out in the sun! We at our lunch in the back of the car because I forgot to bring a blanket and there was duck poop all around. And for dessert...Belgium waffles we got at the market! Yummy!
