Tahoe '10, Day 1
As you can tell from the last post, we made a trip up to Tahoe last weekend and the kids saw snow for the first time. I couldn't tell who was more excited, the kids or Young. Young grew up in the mid-west so he really misses snow in the winters. He couldn't wait to get unloaded and get the kids out in the snow. The entire weekend was almost perfect...I got some 24hr bug and was really sick one day, but other than that, it was an amazing weekend. Our friends Yang and Mason came along too. Their son, Jasper, is one of Timo's best buds. All the kids got along great with no major melt downs. I was so surprised that the kids didn't mind putting on all the snow gear to go outside. No complaints from anyone about snow pants, coats, hats, gloves (sometimes), or snow boots. Here they are all bundled up!
Like I said, the first day I was really sick so Yang and Young took the kids out. There was a fair amount of snow on the ground, enough to make a few snow balls and get the feel of how to walk. The kids seemed way more interested in shoveling snow with the spoons. Yang brought Jasper's sand toys and that was a big it. Everyone was shoveling snow and trying to get it in the bucket. They spent at least an hour in the driveway going back and forth to the bucket.
Young did get the kids to make some snow balls and try to build a snow man but it was hard with their gloves on and too cold with the gloves off...so Daddy took over operation Snowman!
It started snowing in the afternoon and they took the kids out once more for the day. I don't think the kids understood the concept of "it's snowing" but it look so beautiful. After dinner and bath, the kids all climbed on the sofa for a bedtime story from Yang...I was still sick and trying to stay away from the kiddies :( And yes, we planned the matching PJs. Just before bed the kids wanted one last look at the snow still falling. Timo figured out how turn out the lights for a better view...you can't tell from the pictures but it was really snowing hard...it snowed all night!
