All By Myself

My little Miss Independent has figured out how to put her zip up jammies on all by herself...pretty impressive. (gotta love our SF summers...wearing fleece footy jammies in August.)

Problem Solving

I was washing dishes the other night and Cameron wanted to help...such a good helper. She ran and got her stool but realized it wasn't tall enough so ran and got the rocking chair...still not tall enough. In classic Cameron style, she says, "I have a good idea!" and off she ran to solve the problem. Back in she came with an arm load of books to stand on. Bingo!
She wanted to be a little higher and ran to get more books...a little too many, making them all collapse. Then I guess she figured it was much more fun to actually read the books than stand on them...at least she had good intentions!

Funny Faces

Young was stuck on a horrible work travel week a few weeks ago from SF to Chicago to Orlando...really bad delays, canceled flights and ultimately sitting on the runway for over an hour waiting for take off to get back home. We were texting back and forth while he was stuck on the runway and as much as he was trying to stay positive, I knew he could use some cheering up. So I asked the kids to make some funny faces to send to Daddy to help make him happy (the joys of modern technology). Here are my funny faced monkeys...(Cameron kept shaking her head being silly, therefore she is a little blurry)

The kids just ended up cracking themselves up more than anything! And it work, Young was feeling better and almost immediately their plan got cleared for take off! Just goes to show the power of a little child's smile!

Berkeley Kite Festival

The Berkeley Kite Festival is just like it sounds, a big kite festival. I've heard such great things about it and always wanted to go but have had other conflicts. This year when I heard about it, I put it on the calender so we would be sure to make it...and it did not disappoint! Wow, I never knew you should fly such huge kites! This is just a few of the hundreds of kites flying...

There was also a kite making area for the kids. Cameron carefully colored hers but Timo was way more interested in building the kite than coloring it.
Then Cameron was ready to build hers and take it up for flight...and with a little coaching from Daddy, the kites actually flew!

It was a little too crowded in that area so we took them to the top of a hill to really try and fly them...and they did! (But next year I think we'll bring our real kite to fly)
Lunch break...our new favorite junk food...corn dogs! (the kids got hooked on them at the beach this summer)
And what's a festival without bouncy houses and a big slide!

This was our first year so I wasn't sure what to expect...but next year we'll be more prepared...kites, chairs, kites, picnic and our kites! (it seems we were the only ones there that didn't bring our kite, who knew??) But the festival was so much fun, it's going on our calender for next year for sure!

Monkey Love

You think Timo loves his monkeys?? There are 4 mixed into this pile...as well as his monkey pillow, all of which are named Papi. When he loves, he loves 110%!

Beach Fun

We continued our short heat wave by going to down to Coyote Point in San Mateo with our friend's Caleb and Evan Moy. The Moy's have a van so we put the twins' car seats in and carpooled down to the beach. We wanted to get there early, before the crowds, but maybe a little too early...it was quite chilly for the first hour. The kids stayed in their little cover ups to keep warm.
Ah, then it gets warmer and warmer...

Then the digging began. My kids got sand all in their bathing suits and wanted to be changed...much to my hesitations, I put clothes on and let them go at it in the sand.
Clean up time...luckily they had showers there to wash out the buckets of sand in their shorts. I had an extra pair of pants for each and rode home topless but having had so much fun! Hope it we get some more heat soon so we can go back.

Wet and Wild

We actually had hot weather in San Francisco about a month ago and got to break out our sprinkler toy...woo hoo! The kids went crazy playing in the water, running all around and filling up everything they could find with the water. Of course, we used it once and haven't used it again, but it was fun while it lasted.

Gotta love goggles! The kids wear them all the time, no joke. I guess life is just more fun looking at it through goggled eyes...

Safety Block Party and Face Painting

A few days after the Prestonwood Concert in the park, we stumbled onto a safety block party in the Target parking lot. The local law enforcement and other safety management teams came together to help children know who, where, and when to be safe. It was every little boy's dream...firetrucks, police cars, motorcycles, etc. There also were policemen and firemen there to shake their hands but we don't have pics of that...the kids were a little to intimidated by them. Oh well, it was fun climbing in and out of all the emergency vehicles.
We also got these cool bags full of "The policeman is my friend" coloring books, stickers, "fireman badges" and some silly bands shaped like police badges. (silly bands must really be the "in" thing right now). As you can see, Cameron already dipped into her sticker...
Timo got to spin the big wheel and won a bouncy ball!
After jumping in the bouncy house, petting the police dog and losing about 4 balloons in the air, we found the face painting table...oh my! Timo, as usual, wanted a baseball. Cameron wasn't feeling the face painting this day...she told me "Mommy, maybe tomorrow." OK Cameron, maybe tomorrow.
But what was so funny was what I found that night at bath time. Apparently they have picked up a thing or two from all the face painting lately (VBS, carnival and safety fair).
