Hawaii--Days 5 & 6

One of the downfalls of going to Hawaii in January is you never know when it's gonna rain. The rain actually had perfect timing...after 4 straight days at the hotel pools and beach, we were ready to get out and explore the island.  Seeing the weather, I rented a car and the kids and I set off to be tourist.  Dole Plantation was at the top of our list. Eating was at the very bottom of the kids list of things to do on vacation and I feel like they lived off pineapple the whole time.  So seeing where pineapples come from and all that is involved in growing them was a real eye opener for their new favorite fruit!  We treated ourselves to a little Dole Whips to finish off our tour.
My plan was to ride up to the North Shore and see some beautiful scenery, maybe get out and explore some of the beautiful beaches, do a little shopping, get some famous shaved ice, etc...but the all day down pour kinda changed our plans.  But we did get some lunch in, picked out some Hawaiian shirts and saw some beautiful rainbows in between the rain.
Since our day trip was a "wash", we headed back,  picked a Disney movie out of the club house (Dinosaurs and Wreck it Ralph) and settled in our room with room service for dinner.  I did sneak out to meet Young and watch the sunset....
Young and Jennie committed to taking the weekend off and our family planned Pearl Harbor for Saturday because it was going to be another on/off rainy day. (Jennie and her mom spent the day at the spa...heaven!) We got there too late to get tickets to go out to the Arizona Memorial but took full advantage of the Mighty Mo!  Timo was pumped to get on the battleship Missouri while wearing his Pearl Harbor Hawaiian shirt! (It has bomber planes on it and he got several compliments from Veterans that were there touring too!)
The rain cleared in the afternoon so we continued on to Wikiki and explored the beach area a little.
We had reservations that evening at the JW Marriott for a celebration dinner for Peerless Insights' one year anniversary!  They signed their business license one year from that date so we wanted to celebrate.  I'm so proud of Young and all he has accomplished in their first year...God has been so good and gracious to them throughout their first year! We had a great dinner with great service...and, of course, fruit and pineapple for dessert!
