Hawaii Vacation--Days 1 & 2

The day the children were supposed to go back to school we took off for our long awaited Hawaiian vacation.  Officially it is was Young's company, Peerless Insights' "Annual Board Member's Meeting", all two of them.  Yes, a work trip that we tagged along on, woo hoo!  When they planned the trip months ago, it was meant to be a reflection of their first year, do some strategy on growing the company and celebrate their first year's success...but it they ended being so overwhelmed with projects, they work the whole time, boo! I kinda knew that might happen which is why I really pushed for staying at the Aulani Hotel, the Disney hotel that is made just made for kids.  Knowing I would be on my own most days to entertain Timo and Cameron, I wanted a place that was 100% kids friendly.  All the prices dropped just after New Years, we found an amazing deal online and booked our 8 night, 9 day vacation!

So, having said all that, we were off on our Hawaiian adventure.  I was so excited, which spilled over on to the kids and they were beyond excited!  I just love Hawaii and had been really wanting to take the children and have them experience it.  We had a 6am flight which meant waking up at 4:30am!  The kids passed out on the flight, which made it go by a lot faster!  And since Hawaii is 3hr behind, we landed at 11:30am and had the whole day a head of us.
Breakfast and a little guava mimosa for mommy while Young and Jennie squeezed in some work on the plane.
Our limo ride to the hotel...Peerless Insights is a classy business! (sorry in advance for all the slightly blurry pics...my camera phone has become increasingly sensitive to motion, so the slightest movement, like in a car, totally blurs the pics)
We got to our hotel, checked in, changed into our swimming trunks and headed straight for the pool!  Our room was fantastic...a few of the pool area and ocean view.  The first two days were a little chilly so swimming wasn't ideal.  Timo would get wet and then I'd have to wrap him up in three layers of towels to stay warm.
Since it was a little too chilly for swimming we decided to change and check out the Chip and Dale Surf Party.  This is the great thing about the Aulani...tons of extra activities for the kids.  Our kids didn't really know who Chip and Dale were but surf boards, music, games...they had a blast!  We finished our day with an early dinner and early bedtime since it was a really LONG day.
The next morning we attended the Character Breakfast!  One thing about the Aulani, it's wasn't overboard on the whole Disney thing.  The hotel was mainly focused on Hawaii and Hawaiian culture, history and tradition.  Timo and Cameron aren't huge into Disney so it was just enough for them...a few characters they recognized and they were happy.  The breakfast was perfect...Micky, Minnie and Goofy.
Aunti came out to lead the kids in Hawaiian songs and dances, they had a parade, played with coconut shells and had a blast!  Little did I know I would hear the same songs over and over every morning from our hotel room.  Our room overlooked the pool area where the breakfast was held every morning and we had the songs memorized by the last day!
We headed for the pool and splash pad for the rest of the day! I don't have a tons of pics of our pool time because I was in the water with them most of the time.  Young and Jennie spent most of the days in the conference area working so there wasn't an extra person to take pics, and I had this fear of my phone getting wet...but I'll have more later.
That night was the Luau a short walk away at the Marriott Beach Club.  They started out with crafts, tatoos and hula lessons for everyone.  Timo learned to make a Warriors crown out of palm leaves and we all learned the hula! (that's me in the pink behind Timo)  We had a full Hawaiian meal and sat back to enjoy the 2 hour show...yeas, 2 hours of music, drums, dancing and fire dancing...which was Timo's favorite part! A great way to end our first full day in Hawaii.
