Standing Little Man

Timothy is pulling himself up on anything and everything that will hold his weight. He has become very adverterous and daring...and has the bumps, bruises and scratches to prove it.
I had to push the walker up against something that won't move...he isn't quite ready to go cruising across the room yet...

Finger Foods

Feeding the kids has become a bit more challenging but a whole lot more fun! We are onto finger foods now b/c they (and by "they" I mean Cameron) are on a no puree food strike. She basically won't eat from a spoon right now, she has to feed herself. She still will eat her yogurt, applesauce and carrot puree but that's about all you can get her to eat from a spoon. So the challenge is finding enough healthy foods that a baby with no teeth can eat. Bananas bites top our list along with Cheerios, Kixs and Goldfish. Then the fun starts. I found a bunch of great items at Trader Joes for them. They have these "Smart Dogs" that are hot dogs made of soy, so they are super soft and taste just like hot dogs. They also have organic mac and cheese that the kids love and easy for them to pick up. String cheese is another favorite along with sweet potato bits. I'll cook spinach down, chop it and make little tiny balls for them to grab and maybe some cut grapes for dessert. I have kinda a running list of menus I cycle through but am always looking for new ideas if anyone has some...

Here are some pics of our dinner the other night..."hot dogs", mac n cheese and whole wheat toast, yummy! I just put the food down and them have at it. (let's not talk about how messy this all is...)

How to Keep the Kids Out of the Christmas Tree...

Exersaucers and snack! The kids don't show much interest in the Christmas tree except in the evening when we plug in the lights. So when that happens we have to get creative in keeping the them away from pulling on the light stands. I find that snacks always keep the kids occupied and the exersaucers keep them stationary...perfect combo. (It's also a good time to call Granny and Grandpa for a web cam chat!) They have sorta lost interest in their exersaucers since they became mobile. In fact, it's a daily battle to get Timothy in his car seat, stroller, a diaper change...anything that holds him down. Now days he would rather stand on the outside and play with it's gadgets. But they just can't pass up the delicious snack of teething biscuits or zwieback toast!

10 Months Old!

Woo Hoo! We've made it to 10 months and having a blast so far! Now the only thing in my mind is they will be 1yr old in two months!!!!! (Knowing what a planner I am, I'm already behind schedule!)

Here are the stats:
Timohty-20lbs
Cameron 19lb 5oz

Big accomplishments this past month seemed to happen all within last week. So much stuff I haven't had a chance to post yet but I'll go ahead and mention (stay tuned for pictures)

Timothy is pulling himself up to standing on anything that will hold his weight.
Cameron had slight movement forward yesterday.
Christmas tree shopping .
Seeing Santa!
Discovering new favorite foods...mac and cheese, hot dogs, spinach, avocados, apple juice.
Discovering new foods we don't like...tangerines (I think too sour).
Cameron has added a few new sounds to her vocabulary...doy, doy, doy...
Timothy learned to clap...Cameron already mastered this.
Cameron has started mimicing a few of our actions...pretend sneezing is my personal fav.
NEW CAR SEATS! (stay tuned for pictures)

a few outtakes...

Cameron in the Basket

I was doing laundry and put Cameron in the basket just for fun. She loved it. We had Christmas music playing in the background and she was dancing...she loves dancing.

Santa!

Our first outing to for the kids to meet Santa went pretty much like we expected. I haven't seen too many babies that take warmly to a very large strange man with a long white beard, dressed in red and wearing a funny hat!!

We had our Family Christmas party at church Saturday night and Santa was there. We were so excited to get the kid's picture taken and not have to brave the mall Santa. All in all I think things went pretty well and we got some really cute pictures of the kids with Santa. Surprisingly Timothy was the most scared. Cameron warmed up after a moment or two, distracted by her candy cane, but Timothy just couldn't muster up the courage.

The party was great fun...full of families, singing, the story of Christmas, edible Nativity scenes and a chili cook off...that I lost! The kids had fun playing with their friends and we had fun talking to the several "soon to be parents" from the church...trying to prepare them. Here are a few photos of the festive evening.

PS...someone was taking pictures of all the kids with Santa. I'll post them when they get emailed to me.

One More

I just had to post one more picture of Cameron being stuck...she is rolling over in her crib now and since she only moves backwards...she gets her legs stuck between the bars outside the crib. I came in and found her this way yesterday.

Mommy is Hands Free

Just another sign of our little babies growing up...they can hold their own bottles almost the whole feeding now.

Security Monkey

For some reason I'm obsessed with taking pictures of Timothy sleeping with his monkey. We put the kids down to sleep nap or night, he climbs all around the crib, I usually have to go back in at least one to retrieve his pacifier from the floor...all the while, monkey is sitting in the corner of the crib untouched. Then I go back in after the kids are sleeping to cover them up. Somehow Timo has found his monkey and can't go to sleep without it. I think it's so funny that he falls asleep on top of the monkey. I know I'm probably the only one that thinks this is cute, so bare with me.

"Help, I'm Stuck!"

Little Cameron just can't get the forward motion going. She is a master at moving backward and scooting on her bottom but often gets herself stuck in the strangest place...unknowingly backing up into them. She has this little whimper cry she does when she gets stuck and I grab the camera and run to her rescue. I've been collecting photos of her in the "help, I'm stuck" position.

she keeps knocking her head trying to get out from under the cribs...and I found her with a leg caught under the bookshelf...poor baby!

Room to Grow

I wasn't going to write a post about having to lower the kids' crib mattresses but it was just so funny the way it happened...I had to take pictures. Timothy started standing in his crib yesterday afternoon and I told Young this morning that we needed to move his mattress down. We were going do it tonight...well, Timo fell out of his crib this afternoon. That's not the funny part...he is OK, but gave me/us a big scare. He was lucky he landed on his back. I can't believe he went from standing to climbing out in 24hr!!

So tonight we lowered his mattress and decided to do Cameron's this weekend b/c she isn't really getting up in her crib yet. Just as we were discussing when to lower her's, Young turned around and she was climbing up on her knees, holding onto the bars! We had our answer, we're not taking any chances. We pulled her out and put her in with Timothy and went to work on her crib. The kids had the best time in the same crib for about 20mins. Timo was standing and Cameron was trying to match him.
Now they are both safe and sound about 2feet lower than before!

2008 Ornament Party

We had our 7th Annual Ornament Party this past weekend. Young started the tradition before we got married as a way to get his tree decorated...and we still continue it to spend time with our friends and get some really great ornaments!! This year was a little trying because of having two babies nipping at our heels the whole time. But we pulled everything together, were a little behind in getting the food out, and got some really special ornaments. Even though this years theme was "O Holy Night", it seemed homemade ornaments took the majority. It was tough picking the winner but it had to go to the "Twin's First Christmas" ornament from Liz and Salvador Rossa.
The runner up...Alex playing to my soft side of UNC and Marge trying to use the cuteness of our kids...it almost worked!

Liz and Annelise were the real stars of the evening. They spent the whole party chasing after the kids, entertaining them, feeding them and helping get ready for bed. What troopers!

All in all we had a great evening and it was so special to have all our friends around us celebrating the start of the Christmas season!Jeff, Sarah, Vivi feeding Jessica. And Doug, Joaquin and Wilnye hangin' in the kitchen.

The kids with their new shoes from Liz...and Keis was visiting from Japan, hanging with Cameron.

The 2008 Christmas Tree!

We headed out Saturday to get our Christmas tree. We went to our local nursery and picked out a spectacular tree that was tall, nicely shaped and enough gaps to fit some of our big ornaments. Little did we know, once we got it home, the trunk of the tree was extremely crooked. We got it home and placed it in the stand only to find out it leaned about 20degress to side. How did we miss this at the tree lot?? So there was alot of trimming, alot of sawing and about two feet cut off the bottom to try and get it straight in the stand. Ugh! But an hour and half later we had it! (Don't touch the tree too hard, it might fall back over.)
Young picking out the perfect one and me holding the tree...not noticing the trunk we crooked!
Another 12inces off the tree but we got it! Time to put the lights on...
Little trees just the perfect size for the kids!!

Mischief

It seems as soon as I turn my back these days the kids are into something or playing somewhere they shouldn't be. It's somewhat my fault because I'm forget and leave things out that they can easily get into. I left the sales catalogs on the couch, forgetting that Timothy can climb up to it now. He and Cameron completely tore them all apart. The same with the Sunday paper earlier this week, I had it by the door for recycling...Timo attacked it!
And how did they figure out how to pull the mouse down from the computer, get it unplugged and start playing with it?? Everything has to be put up high now.
I feel like I need to have a cleaning service come clean our place now...and get all the nooks and crannies I miss each week. Timothy ends up in the most unlikely places, like behind the sofa. I don't even want to think about how dirty it must be back there!

Timothy's Dump Truck

As Timothy started to crawl more and more I wanted to get him a toy on wheels that he could play with that would move with him. I picked this dump truck up at a yard sale for a $1 and Timo absolutely loves it. He is always playing with his dump truck. I'm constantly hearing the wheels roll across the floor and Timo trying to ram it into the walls. He gets really upset when it gets turned over and doesn't roll...he hasn't figured out how to turn in back on it's wheels yet.
(please excuse Timo's drool...he has another tooth coming in...)
