Tahoe Day 4

Sunday morning we woke up and had a big breakfast of banana pancakes. Yummy!

The Ko family headed off to church and the Ng family headed out on a hike at Emerald Bay. I can't speak for the hike but the Kos had tons of fun at church and playground afterward (although I heard the hike was amazing). The Calvary church is located in the South Lake Tahoe Rec center which is located right next to this great playground. It's not your average playground, it's more of an agility playground with structures testing your balance, strength and mobility.

The twins woke up a bit early from their nap and to insure Jasper had a nice quiet nap, we took the kids outside for a little more exploring. The road the cabin is on is rarely traveled so we took a little stroll up the road to see the Heavenly Mountain.

Then it was back home to start the grill for supper. We have a gas grill at home so the whole charcoal/fire grill was new and exciting for the kiddies.

After supper we took the kids out to watch the fireworks over the lake. I think the kids enjoyed these much more than the July 4th ones at the fair because they were far away...they didn't sound as loud. We gots lots of "ohs and ahs" this time.

We wrapped up our last night in Tahoe with roasted marshmallows...another first! Timo wasn't a big fan but Cameron more than made up for Timo's loss!

Tahoe Day 3

Saturday morning was a beautiful, hot day so we loaded up and headed to the Sand Harbor beach area (Thanks Kapics for the heads up). This location was so beautiful! Clear water, plenty of shade, sunny and lots and lots of sand! We got there early and it's a good thing...when we were leaving at 2pm there was a long line of cars backed up at least a mile down the road trying to turn in and find parking!
Young got up early that morning to set out and find Timo a paddle ball set (see previous post). I have a rule...if the kids play with someone else's toy for over an hour, then it might be worth investing in one of our own.(Luckily it was an end of the season sale and it only cost $5!) What a good Daddy!!
Of course it was all about digging again. The three kids kept themselves busy for quite a while and I was impressed that they were all "working together"...at least for a little while.
Mason and Jasper dug the biggest hole EVER while Yang tried to build a castle before it got noticed and knocked down by two destructors named Jasper and Timo.

Time to go swimming. The whole beach area was this sand bar so you could walk way out and still be only waist deep. Cameron was loving the water!

But Timo wasn't so sure...the water was a bit too chilly for him.

I think the kids were so worn out, even their nap didn't help. Everyone was so cranky when they woke up, it took a good 30-45mins for them to calm them down. We had to put in the emergency mood changer...Dora the Explorer...worked like magic!
That evening, our plan was to all go out for dinner but everyone was so tired and unmotivated, we just ordered pizza. Timo refused to get dressed and Cameron somehow got a boo-boo (doesn't take much). She insisted on having a band-aid (I brought some just in for that reason). She unwrapped it and put it on her face all by herself. Don't worry, it looks much worse than it really is...
After dinner, everyone was armed with their flashlights, ready go hunting for crickets and frogs!
This is what vacations are all about!

Tahoe Day 2

The next morning was a little to chilly to go swimming so we spent our time exploring around the cabin. There were so many rocks to climb, stumps to jump off of, sticks to pick up and pine cones to collect...we lost track of time and missed snack time! I must warn you...this post is mostly pictures...not a lot needs to be said about hiking in the woods!
We're ready to go Mommy and Daddy...come on!
Our favorite redwood tree. For some reason Timo wouldn't go near it this year but Cameron and Daddy had a blast!

Where's Waldo?

While the kids napped, Young took his parents out for a little sightseeing around the lake...
After naptime, The Yang, Mason and Jasper arrived, suited up and we all headed back to the beach area.

Timo spotted a ball and paddle from some folks sitting next to us and made friends fast so he could play with it. They were so nice to let him play and actually played with him for a while until Daddy stepped in.
Cameron didn't need much to entertain her...just water and sunshine!

Catching Up and Tahoe Day 1

As you can tell, I'm behind on my blogging with so much going on around the Ko home front. I'll try to update my post soon but just to let you know a little of what has been going on...We voted a new pastor in at our church (priase the Lord!), Young's parents are here visiting for a month (can you say babysitters?), we took a little trip to Tahoe (relaxing, no blogging)and I've been working none stop on decorating the kids bedroom (lots of photo hanging and arts and crafts).

Since Tahoe is so fresh in my memory, I'll start with our vacation photos. We were able to enjoy a long holiday weekend of beautiful summer weather at Lake Tahoe. The drive is about 4 hours so we broke up the trip with a little pit stop in Sacramento at one of my fav restaurants...Chick-Fil-A!
Did I mention I love the kids meals here b/c they put a book in it instead of some dinky, plastic toy! Anyway, we took a nice long lunch eating and playing in the indoor play area (it was a cool 95 degrees outside so an indoor play area was a must!)
The kids did well sleeping in the car around the curvy mountains and we made it to the cabin safe and sound, thanks to Daddy! In record time, we unloaded, changed into our swim suits and headed to the beach area of the lake to soak up the afternoon sun.
Digging holes was the big thing this year...the bigger the better! The kids would bring sand and water to fill the hole as fast as we could dig them...

Since Young's parents were with us and we were expecting our good friends, Yang and Mason, to join us the next day, all the bedrooms were taken at the cabin...so that left the kids to sleep on a palet on the floor! I don't know why I was so happy for them to sleep on a plaet...I guess b/c I have great memories of my brother and I sleeping/playing on blankets on the floor while on vacations. The kids did great and I think they enjoyed as much as I had hoped they would.

Get Set...Go!

I guess my days of track and field have been wearing off on the kids. We run races at the parks and I taught them how to line up on the starting line...get your mark, get set, Go! But somehow it's moved into the house and now they find new ways of using their new phase!
