Thanksgiving 2010

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year, a little hectic, but so special being surrounded by our SF family. Our day started out with a little football! One of our friends son's plays high school football and his team made it to the championship game help on Thanksgiving Day...the Turkey Bowl. Young took the kids over there to see the game and give me a little time with out kids to get the food ready. Unfortunately their team lost but the kids had a blast running around and cheering them on..even if it was freezing cold outside!

Once they were home, Cameron really wanted to help Mommy in the kitchen so I put her on cranberry duty...her job was to stir in the nut! She lasted about a minuet and was off again...

This year was a first for our turkey...we deep fried it! I have to say I may never go back to roasting a turkey again! Not only was the flavor amazing and so juicy, but Young took care of the whole thing so it was one less thing for me to worry about! And he did an excellent job frying, just like a pro!

We were so fortunate to be able to spend the day with our closest friends, the Busbee Family, the Evans Family and Pastor Ryan with little Brady. The feast was finally ready and we all enjoyed the fruits of our labors. Each family contributed a side dish or two and Claudia did the decorations for the table...amazing! And the kids loved having their own "kiddie table" this year! I can't believe I have kids old enough to eat at their own table!!

After stuffing ourselves, we all settled in for our traditional Thanksgiving movie...this year it was Elf...classic!
Young and I are so blessed, even being far away from our families, the Lord has provided us church family here that we are able to share the holidays with. We are so thankful that our Heavenly Father loves us so much!

Such a great group to celebrate Thanksgiving with! I love that Cameron is wanting to help you in the kitchen- after all, she has two parents who can teach her a lot!

What did I tell you about frying the turkey??? See, it is easier and faster. And the best part is, it frees up the oven for more food!!!
