Zebulon, NC

We got back from vacation, said good-bye to Daddy who had to head back to SF, and settled into the country and slow southern life for the next week before heading even further south to Great Grandma Cameron's house.  My parents live in the country side of Zebulon where there isn't much to do unless you farm tobacco.  So finding entertainment for two 6 year olds can be challenging but also nice to have them entertain themselves without all their toys or having an agenda.
Grandpa enjoyed having the extra hands around for all the chores!  Tiimo was always the first to volunteer for work while Cameron was pretty content to rainbow loom most of the time.
We took walks every evening, when there wasn't a thunderstorm, and watch the beautiful sunsets.  You can see there wasn't much to look at but fields after fields...
A few of the days were up and over 100 with 99% humidity...just miserable for anyone to be outside.  So we passed those days not wearing much, watching TV (Granny and Grandpa have satellite so the kids were excited over Jake, Power Rangers and Aquanauts).  We also played endless hours of UNO!
And lots and lots and lots of ice pops.  Granny bought one of those 50 count at the beginning and I don't think there were any left by the time we left.
One of those hot days we did visit some of our favorite museums....NC History and NC Natural History.
We had one tiny incident where Cameron got bit by something, we think a spider, but nothing a little Benadryl didn't take care of.
I didn't take a lot of pictures but there was a lot of outside play.  The kids woke up and immediately wanted to go outside.  Living in a city that is foggy most mornings, heading outside typically isn't their first choice. But in NC, with the weather and endless amount of land to run around on, outside was the only place they wanted to be.  There was lots of bike riding, baseball, kickball, stomp rockets, firefly catching and whatever else southern summers holds for a kid.
