Heat Wave!

Amazingly enough, we had 92 degree temps last week here in SF and it was hot! It's typically cool year round so no one has air condition in their homes. We have maybe 5 total days a year that are over 80 so why bother with indoor air condition? We always say the fog is natures air condition for the Bay Area.

Anyway, it was HOT! and there weren't many things we could do to get relief from the heat. It was hot outside and hot/stuffy air inside. So I thought the kids would enjoy running through the sprinklers and getting wet to cool off...not so much. I put swim diapers on, flipped the switch and they just stood there. Hum...I tried to run out the show them how much fun it was but both refused. Cameron ventured out a little and got water in her face and it was all over for her. Timo took a few steps out, got wet and ran back. Who's kids are these???

I decided to try a different approach. Maybe just playing in still water would be fun...just something they could splash around in. We started off with watering cans and they seemed completely satisfied filling, pouring, splashing, filling, dumping, splashing, etc...

Though the kids seemed happy with the can, I was getting a little bored, so I pulled the dump trucks out and things really got fun. I was trying to make something like a water table...on wheels. For some odd reason, they were trying to stand in the trucks (bad idea)and splash the water on their legs and arms. Crazy kids!
Timo then had the bright idea to dump his bubbles in the dump truck and try to blow bubbles. It just wasn't working out that well for him until I came over with the water hose and created bubbles upon bubbles...

But all things must come to an end...it was time to head inside. I told the kids were were going inside to take off our swim diapers, turned my back to pick up some of their toys and turned around again to find them heading up the steps like this...what a "perfect little end" (sorry, couldn't resist) to a perfect afternoon!
