Our New Normal

After much prayer and council, our family took a leap of faith and made the decision for Young to step out on his own and start his own business. He left his job of more than 10 years in February and started his own company, Peerless Insights.  It has been amazing to see how God is working and providing for our family during this transition in so many ways!  While this has been a huge adjustment in his life, it's been such a blessing to me as well as Timo and Cameron.  Daddy is home a lot more!  First off, he isn't traveling these first few months while he's getting Peerless off the ground.  His new office is just a few blocks from our house, no commute time, so he is around in the mornings to help get the gang ready for school.  His has unofficially taken over the tooth brushing and hair combing job.
He gets off work most nights now to be home for dinner, bath and bedtime.  I'm not sure if this is really a blessing...Young tends to play around rowdy with the kids just before bedtime, making the "settle down" part a lot harder!  But Timo and Cameron LOVE IT!
But I love that he is just more present in our home.  He has time each day to talk to the kids, ask about their day, read books and just spend quality time.  Our Daddy Time isn't trying to be crammed into our weekends anymore.
He was reading Cameron's dinosaur book to her the other night and came across the Camarasaurous!  They immediately had to take to the computer to find our more about Cameron's namesake dino...Young loves to dig up little know facts for her.
Owning your own business tends to be way more stressful than just being an employee, so this "new normal" of having daddy around more might be somewhat short lived, but our prayer is that more flexibility will be a part of Young running his own company.
