Academy of Sciences

It had been a few months since we had visited the California Academy of Sciences and it amazes me how much more the kids got out of it this time than just a few months ago. They are learning so much and changing so fast....someone please slow it down!!
We always start at the sting rays and shark pond and then head to the penguins.

The kids typically love spending most of their time in the Tot's Spot area, just playing with puzzles, puppets and on the ship, but this time they were asking to leave after only a little while...guess they are growing up! But Cameron is never too big for her diver mask! She would walk around the whole museum with it on if she could.

We visited the albino alligator...who was very active this time, making for much more interesting viewing.

The only thing Cameron wanted to do, really, was go see the fish. This was the first time we went to the touch and feel table to feel starfish, which they loved...but the hand dryer was much more interesting.

We wondered around to all the little portholes looking at big seabass, seahorses and then Timo started yelling "Diver, diver, diver!" I turned around and we saw the diver cleaning one of the tanks!

I don't think they would ever get tired of watching the fish...we sat in the viewing room which is basically this huge, floor to ceiling tank with bleachers and steps to sit on for viewing. Somehow this has become our snack time room...
Then it was back upstairs where Timo was surprisingly into all the skeletons...or the actual animal they used to be. He was most fascinated by the giant whale hanging from the ceiling.I guess it's time I look into all the story times, lectures, and tours the museum has to offer. The kids have always been too young to participate and seemingly uninterested (not a long attention span) but after this last visit...I think we're ready to learn more!
