Advent Candles

This was the first year we lit Advent candles at home for the holiday season.  Neither Young or myself grew up with this tradition but we participate in it at church so we thought we would start the tradition for our family this year.  Each Sunday we would sit down, have a short bible study on the topic, either hope, peace, joy, or love, then sing a Christmas song that relates and light one candle.  Turns out the children loved doing it.  We don't have the fancy wreath with candles, just some glad holiday scent ones I bought on sale, but I don't think Jesus cares what we use, just as long as our hearts are focused on Him. Maybe I'll try to get one on clearance after Christmas for next year :)
Both Timo and Cameron are really into writing in cursive right now, even though they don't know how.  They just sit with pen and paper and write swirly curly "words" all over the paper.  They want to "take notes" while we do our bible study and then write the verses at the end...whatever gets them to take an active role in family bible study, I totally support.

This is Cameron singing her own Christmas song one Sunday...she lies to make up her own words.
