The kids have been asking non-stop for their bikes that we left in NC with my parents. And they are no longer satisfied with scooting around the house on their scooters. So we decided it was time to get the kids protective gear and take their scooters outside to let them really learn how to use them. We live across from Golden Gate Park and the park is closed to traffic every Sunday...perfect chance to open up the scooters and see what they can do! And they're off!
We headed up the sidewalk, crossed the street and out to the open road. We realized the kids don't really know how to ride the scooters...they just keep using their feet to scoot but don't really pick up speed and then glide. Young and I got on their scooters to show them how it's done...and slowly they started to get the hang of it. But I don't think it really mattered, they just had fun being in their gear and riding along.
One of the favorite stops was watching the real roller skaters in the park...and listening to the disco music.
Good thing Daddy went over and over the proper way to fall...on your knees and elbows, not hands first. Cameron took a little tumble was was so proud of herself for landing on her knees.
The ride back was a little more tough than starting off...the kids were tired. We had to get creative in how to get them ride the scooters back...not be carried...
Young was such a good daddy and pushed them fast down the home stretch to make things exciting...as little too exciting as they crashed into each other...good thing they were in protective gear!
ps...Cameron is obsessed with her gear now, she wears it all the time...point in case, at the dinner table one night and while being a "doctor" to her chicken.
