The Dentist!

The twins had their very first dentist appointment two weeks ago and I'm happy to report all went well and all teeth are in tact! We went to this great pediatric dentist and you can tell they really know how to make kids comfortable for their first visit. Before you go, they send you personalized books in the mail about "what to expect at the dentist." Each child got their own book and you bring the book in to get stickers in it at the end of the visit. So by the time we showed up, the kids were already well versed in all the equipment and what the dentist was going to be doing to their teeth...so cool!

As for the actual visit...our dentist, Dr Hsieh (Shay), used a fish, with a full set of teeth, to show them how she was going to be brushing their teeth. Then she had each one show her how they brush their teeth each day...so much fun!
After the demo, it was time to get in the chair. Timo was first and not so sure of sitting alone so I sat with him. He was still a little nervous until Dr. Hsieh offered sunglasses to hide his eyes from the light..he was set after that. He sat so still and let the dentist check and brush everything. All good!
Then Cameron's turn, she needed Mommy too...and the sunglasses. She did equally as well in sitting still even though the dentist saw a trouble spot in her mouth. One of her molars has a deep crevice in it that has cavity potential. It was already a little dark but no matter how much she brushes, changes are pretty good she'll get a cavity...so we need to have a sealant on it. Cameron sat so still while they looked and looked and showed Young and I the tooth. Such a big girl!
Each got their own travel tooth brush case and of course, a new toothbrush! Yay for being big kids and going to the dentist!

What an amazing dentist! That book is such a thoughtful touch, and I love how she's wearing what looks like pajamas?? I want a dentist with toy fish and sunglasses and jammies!
