July 4th

July 4th was our last day at the beach and the hotel was all a buzz with kids activities.  Since we had to check out that same day, we didn't do any swimming, just packed up, checked out and stayed around the hotel for all the activities.
We started with face painting...rockets and hearts.  It was around 10am and already 95 degrees outside...can you tell our kids aren't used to this heat!
We move to the craft table to make hats and sunglasses...groovy cool dude!
Playing corn hole...one of Timo's fav games.
A little lunch before we got on the road for our drive home.  Cameron kept asking all weekend for one of the "ice cream drinks" she saw other kids drinking (frozen fruit drink) so we treated the kids with one on our last day.  Cameron was in a very silly mood today...
The steel drum band started playing and Timo was mesmerized and Cameron danced.  The band was actually a family with their youngest (9year old) playing the steel drum.  Both children were asking how a little boy knew how to play the drum??  It gave us a good opportunity to talk about practice, practice, practice. My children tend to want to master a new skill right here, right now.  And if they can't, they don't want to do it anymore.  So this seemed to be a tangible example they could see of a little boy who worked hard at something.

Timo had been asking all week to go into the "game room" to play video games so we let him on the final day.  The hotel had this room set up just for kids to play with all kids of video games.  We played bowling, golf, baseball and archery...so much fun!
Time to load up and head home.  A little fancy hotel water for the road.  What a great vacation we had at our hotel!

We were thankful that Mom got out of the hospital the day we came home and doing much better. We let her rest and took the kids outside to light sparklers! Upon lighting the first one, Cameron wanted nothing to do with them and ran inside to be with Granny. But Timo loved them and we it was fun seeing his face light up in wonder has he held a sparkler for the first time.
