Road Trip!

We decided to forgo the astronomical price of a multi-city plane ticket and do a little road trip from NC to Young's family in Ohio.  What started out as "it's just a 10 hour drive, we can make it in one day", turned into a two day, multi stop, good old fashion road trip!  Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE road trips?  LOVE them.

The kids did really well with all the driving.  Coloring, watching movies, checking out the view of with their binoculars.  We loved driving through the Blue Ridge Mountains...so beautiful!
An extra special Thank You to all those truckers out there who honked their horns for the kids!!  Timo and Cameron would honk and honk their arms and get sooo excited when a trucker would honk.  This made time go by really quickly, going from eighteen wheeler to the next.
Young was especially excited about the van!  He really wants to get a mini van but our garage is too small..oh, darn!
Our first stop was in Ashville to visit one of my old friends Jeff.  He has a super yummy BBQ restaurant in Asheville, NC.  We stopped for lunch and then the kids were out for a nap.
I got to enjoy the quiet beauty of the Appalachian Mountains as we drove.
We spent the night in Lexington, KY, just a few miles from our old interim pastor, Pastor Bob.  In the heart of horse country.  We were able to meet them the following morning for breakfast and it was so great to see them and catch up.  We sure do miss you Pastor Bob and Joy!
After breakfast we headed to Louisville, KY and made a stop at the Louisville Slugger Museum.  Oh boy, was Timo ever excited.

They got to hold history making bats, check out all the history of bat making and go on a tour to see bats being made.  There was no photograph allowed so that's why my pictures are limited.

We left there and drove to Cincinnati to see one of Young's collage buddies, Brad.  He was working at the time (our drive timing was off) so it was a short visit.  We left there and turned the car toward Toledo, OH.  We finally pulled into Young's parents' house that evening...not a moment too soon.  I think two days is about the limit for two 4 year olds!
