Toledo Zoo and Family

Another day we headed over to the Toledo Zoo. This particular day was on the beginning of a heat wave so the temp was around 95degrees. Not sure why I decided to go to the zoo on this day, not one of my best ideas. I knew the kids would never be able to walk around in that heat so we rented a wagon as soon as we got there.

Since it was SO HOT, most of the animals were inside their hiding places, the shade or high up in trees.  It was slim pickin's to see an animal move around...except for these crazy animals!  We love the children's area with the animal masks.

At least I had a helper to pull the wagon.  Can you tell who the work horse in our family is and who likes to just get by with minimal output?
We always have to ride the merry go round and the train at every zoo!
Ah, an animal! We actually saw a bunch of snakes, lizards, fish...anything in a tank.  The zoo had a large aquarium room and reptile room...but they were the only air conditioned places so it was packed.  I was trying to keep up with the kids in the crowds, I didn't get any pictures.
Learning to toss pennies in a fountain was a new thing we learned this summer.  They just have to throw a penny in any fountain they see now.  It was fun the first few times...

We got home and took a nice long, cool nap and then went out to dinner with the family.  It was great seafood restaurant on the river.
Sena ordered the lobster and everyone was making a big deal out it...so Timo didn't want to be left out.  He filled his mouth with broccoli to get some attention too.
Cameron's coloring menu...she did such a good job!
There are frog statues all around the city of Toledo and Timo wanted his picture taken in front of everyone we saw.
After supper we went walking along the Maumee River.  So pretty.  This is what I love about summers back east, hot summer nights.  Picking up all sorts of sticks and rocks along the way.
We wanted to tour this ship, the Schoonmaker, but got there just after it closed.  It's supposed to be a really cool ship to tour so looks like we have something to do next time!
